October 28th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM ESTThe White House is pleased to announce its third virtual session of the White House Native Women Symposium, Native Women Rising: Inspiring the Future, shining a spotlight on issues of importance to Native women. This Symposium series features four sessions focusing on issues like the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples (MMIP) crisis, health, and economic development.  We hope to engage in a dialogue about the ongoing focus the Biden-Harris Administration has placed on Indian Country, with direct and lasting impacts on Native women.

The third session of the series, which will focus on MMIP issues and feature a panel of Native women experts and presentations by Native youth. They will highlight and discuss best practices and lessons learned from past and ongoing regional, state, and federal MMIP task force and initiative work as well as the work that Native youth are doing to combat the MMIP crisis. Additionally, White House and Department of the Interior staff will provide updates on work surrounding international Indigenous women’s issues.

The first session of the series, held in April 2022, focused on implementation of the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization Act of 2022.  The second session of the series, held in August 2022, focused on health issues.

The upcoming virtual session will feature special messages from Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland and Attorney General Merrick Garland, and we will be joined by Treasurer of the United States Lynn Malerba.
