VictimsVoice Trademark Guidelines
1. VictimsVoice Trademark Policy
VV, VictimsVoice, VictimsVoice Justice Crew, VictimsVoice Supers, VictimsVoice Partner Member, VictimsVoice SuperSHEro, VictimsVoice SuperHEro, VictimsVoice SuperTHEYro, and VictimsVoice logo (“VictimsVoice Logo”), either separately or in combination, are hereinafter referred to as “VV Trademarks” and are trademarks of EBinRA, Inc., dba VictimsVoice. Except as provided in these guidelines, you may not use the VV Trademarks or any confusingly similar mark as a trademark for your product, or use the VV Trademarks in any other manner that might cause confusion in the marketplace, including but not limited to in advertising, on websites, or on software. VictimsVoice protects the VV Trademarks on behalf of the entire survivor community. In fact, the law obligates trademark owners to police their marks and prevent the use of confusingly similar names by third parties. 2. Usage That Does Not Require Written Permission
Below are the guidelines for use of the VV Trademarks where, as long as you are in compliance with the guidelines, no advance written permission is necessary. In all cases, use is permitted only provided that:
- the use is only in connection with promoting the use of software licenses approved by VictimsVoice which are definitively determined by the current list of licenses on the website of VictimsVoice (https://victimsvoice.app/find-a-resource/#PARTNERMEMBERS). Such licenses are defined as “VictimsVoice Approved Licenses”.
- the use of the term “Partner Members” is used solely in reference to software distributed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses.
- the use is not disparaging to VictimsVoice, VictimsVoice Approved Licenses or software distributed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses
- the use does not imply sponsorship or endorsement by VictimsVoice.
- proper trademark symbols are used in connection with the VV Trademarks and the trademark attribution statement must appear as explained in Proper Trademark Use
- the Logo Usage Guidelines are strictly observed
2.1. Non-commercial and community websites
In the past, community members have inquired whether it is permissible to show support for VictimsVoice by:
- placing the VV Trademarks on a personal website or blog to support VictimsVoice software
- making a page on a social networking web service to support VictimsVoice software
- linking to the VictimsVoice website to provide information or show support for VictimsVoice software and resources
The guidelines relating to such usage are set forth in this section.
It is permissible to use the VV Trademarks on websites to show your support for VictimeVoice software and resources, provided that:
- where possible, the design logo hyperlinks to the VictimsVoice website, https://VictimsVoice.app, or if that is not possible, the site includes a prominent link to the VictimsVoice website at https://VictimsVoice.app.
- proper trademark symbols are used in connection with the VV Trademarks and the trademark attribution statement must appear as explained in Proper Trademark Use
- the Logo Usage Guidelines are strictly observed
- the site indicates clearly that it is not affiliated with or endorsed by VictimsVoice; in addition, where possible:
- the site must include the text “This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by VictimsVoice” prominently on any page that includes the VV Trademarks, and
- if the VV Trademarks appear in a page header or any area that is designed to be presented on more than one page, the notice must also be designed to be presented on all of those pages as well. (i.e., if the VV Trademarks appear in a site-wide header, the informational text must appear in that header or an identically site-wide footer.)
- the site does not use visual styling that could be confusing to viewers or visitors as to whether the site is hosted by or on behalf of VictimsVoice.
- A copy of the use of the VV Trademarks is provided to the Trademark Supervisor within seven (7) days of its initial use, for example by sending a URL or other copy of such use.
2.2. Business websites
In the past, community members have inquired whether it is permissible to show support for VictimsVoice by:
- displaying a link to the VictimsVoice website using the VV Trademarks from a business website
- displaying the VV Trademarks as part of a business that provides software licensed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses
The guidelines relating to such usage are set forth in this section.
It is permissible to use the VV Trademarks on business web sites, provided that:
- the website has non-VictimsVoice primary branding
- the design logo hyperlinks to the VictimsVoice website, https://VictimsVoice.app
- the use does not imply sponsorship or endorsement by VictimsVoice
- the use of the VV Trademarks does not imply an association with nor any form of endorsement by VictimsVoice nor does it apply to any software which is not licensed under the VictimsVoice Approved Licenses
- proper trademark symbols are used in connection with the VV Trademarks and the trademark attribution statement must appear as explained in Proper Trademark Use
- the Logo Usage Guidelines are strictly observed
- the site does not use visual styling that could be confusing to viewers or visitors as to whether the site is hosted by or on behalf of VictimsVoice
- A copy of the use of the VV Trademarks is provided to the Trademark Supervisor within seven (7) days of its initial use, for example by sending a URL or other copy of such use.
2.3. Promotional events
In the past, community members have inquired whether it is permissible to use the VV Trademarks to promote free and VictimsVoice events such as conferences or community free festivals or events. The guidelines relating to such usage are set forth in this section.
It is permissible to use the VV Trademarks in such promotional events, provided that:
- the use does not imply sponsorship or endorsement by VictimsVoice
- the use of the VV Trademarks does not imply an association with or endorsement of the event of the goods distributed at such event
- proper trademark symbols are used in connection with the VV Trademarks and the trademark attribution statement must appear as explained in Proper Trademark Use
- the Logo Usage Guidelines are strictly observed
- A copy of the use of the VV Trademarks is provided to the Trademark Supervisor within seven (7) days of its initial use, for example by sending a URL or other copy of such use

2.4. Publications
It is permissible to use the VV Trademarks in the title and content of a publication, provided that:
- the use is clearly in reference to the VictimsVoice or software licensed under a VictimsVoice Approved Licenses
- the use does not imply sponsorship or endorsement of the publication by VictimsVoice
- proper trademark symbols are used in connection with the VV Trademarks and the trademark attribution statement must appear as explained in Proper Trademark Use
- the Logo Usage Guidelines are strictly observed
- A copy of the use of the VV Trademarks is provided to the Trademark Supervisor within seven (7) days of its initial use, for example by sending a URL or other copy of such use.
3. Usage that Require Prior Written Approval
3.1. Distributing software under a license approved by VictimsVoice (“VictimsVoice Approved License”)
3.1.1. Software distributed solely under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses
In the past, community members have inquired whether it is permissible to use VV Trademarks to identify software. The guidelines relating to such usage are set forth in this section.
It is permissible to use VV Trademarks on and in conjunction with media or a website that includes only software which is licensed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses, provided that:
- proper trademark symbols are used in connection with the VV Trademarks, and
- the trademark attribution statement appears as explained in Proper Trademark Use
3.1.2. Software distributed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses and software not licensed VictimsVoice Approved Licenses separately on same physical medium
In the past, community members have inquired whether it is permissible to use the VV Trademarks to identify media that contains software licensed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses as well as includes other software that is not licensed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses (“Other Software”) in a separate area of the media for use by the recipient. The guidelines relating to such usage are set forth in this section.
Community members may use VV Trademarks on and in conjunction with media that contains software licensed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses and Other Software, provided that:
- the Other Software is labeled and distributed in a way that clearly indicates it is not part of the software licensed under the VictimsVoice Approved Licenses provided on the media or is endorsed by VictimsVoice,
- it is clear who is responsible for the Other Software
- proper trademark symbols are used in connection with VV Trademarks as explained in Proper Trademark Use
- the Logo Usage Guidelines are strictly observed
- a copy of the use of the VV Trademarks is provided to the Trademark Supervisor within seven (7) days of its initial use, for example by sending a URL or other copy of such use
3.1.3. Software distributed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses and software not licensed VictimsVoice Approved Licenses separately on same website
In the past, community members have inquired whether it is permissible to use the VV Trademarks to identify media that contains software licensed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses as well as includes other software that is not licensed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses (“Other Software”) in a separate area of the media for use by the recipient. The guidelines relating to such usage are set forth in this section.
Community members may use VV Trademarks on and in conjunction with media that contains software licensed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses and Other Software, provided that:

3.2. Domain names
In the past, community members have inquired whether it is permissible to use the VV Trademarks, including the terms “VictimsVoice,” “VVapp” or “VictimsVoiceApp,” in an Internet domain name. It is not permissible without written permission of VictimsVoice.
3.3. Non-software goods
In the past, community members have inquired whether it is permissible to use VV Trademarks on non-software goods such as T-shirts, stickers, and pens.
Community members may request from the Trademark Supervisor designated by the Board of Directors of VictimsVoice a license to use the VV Trademarks on non-software related goods or services, by enquiring at https://EBinRA.com/contact-us. The Trademark Supervisor will be responsible for reviewing samples of the goods and services and managing the relationship.
4. Unapproved Use
The following uses of the VV Trademarks are not approved under any foreseeable circumstances.
- Violations of the Logo Usage Guidelines or Trademark Usage Guidelines
- Any use outside these guidelines not by explicit written permission
Except as set forth herein, VictimsVoice retains and reserves all rights to the VV Trademarks and their use, including the right to modify these guidelines.
These guidelines (except for trademark licenses executed for non software goods) may be amended from time to time at the discretion of VictimsVoice and such changes will be effective ten (10) days after the changes are posted. VictimsVoice may provide you with notice of such changes, but need not do so. You are responsible for checking this site for any changes.
5. Proper Trademark Use
One of the purposes of VictimsVoice is to encourage the use of VictimsVoice Approved Licenses for software to enable the public to come to trust the use of VV Trademarks. To achieve this purpose it is important that software licensed under VictimsVoice Approved Licenses can quickly be identified. VictimsVoice has chosen the VictimsVoice Logo to identify such software and is granting usage rights in the VictimsVoice Logo (and the other VV Trademarks) as previously described in this document in order to assure widespread availability.
5.1. Trademark Usage Guidelines
Guideline
Use examples
Always distinguish trademarks from surrounding text with capital V’s and no space or in all capital letters.
Acceptable: VictimsVoice
Unacceptable: victimsvoice, Victims Voice, Victim’s Voice, Victims Voices, Victim’s Voices
Never pluralize a trademark. Never use “an” or “the” to refer to an instance of the trademark. Always use a trademark as an adjective modifying a noun, or as a singular noun.
Acceptable: This software is licensed under a VictimsVoice approved license.
Unacceptable: I put VictimsVoice software on Sally’s iPhone.
Never translate a trademark into another language.
Acceptable: VictimsVoice
Unacceptable: [logiciel de VictimsVoice]
Never alter a trademark in any way including through unapproved fonts or visual identifiers.
Acceptable: Proper use of the VictimsVoice Logo
Unacceptable: Putting a green hat on top of the VictimsVoice Logo
Never use or register any trademarks that are confusingly similar to, or a play on, the VictimsVoice or VictimsVoice Logo.
Acceptable: N/A
Unacceptable: VictimsVoices
Never combine your company name with the VictimsVoice name or use the VictimsVoice name in a way that it could be perceived that VictimsVoice and your company have an organizational link such as a joint venture.
Acceptable: WeHelpSurvivors uses software licensed under VictimsVoice’s approved licenses.
Unacceptable: WeHelpSurvivors uses VictimsVoice software.
Never use the VV Trademarks in a disparaging manner or that violates any federal, state, or international law.
Acceptable: N/A
Unacceptable: Cartoon character micturating on the VictimsVoice Logo, applying VictimsVoice Logo outside permitted uses.
Never use terminology that states or implies that VictimsVoice assumes any responsibility for the performance of your products and services.
Acceptable: WeHelpSurvivors uses software licensed under VictimsVoice’s approved licenses.
Unacceptable: VictimsVoice software runs WeHelpSurvivors.
The VictimsVoice Logo must be hyperlinked to https://VictimsVoice.app, in contexts where such a hyperlink is technically feasible.
Acceptable: Hyperlinking the VictimsVoice Logo where feasible.
Unacceptable: Not hyperlinking the VictimsVoice Logo where feasible.
Except as prohibited by law, the person or entity who is using the VV Trademark under the terms of these Guidelines (“User”) acknowledges that EBinRA, Inc., dba VictimsVoice is the sole and exclusive owner of the VV Trademarks and agrees that it will do nothing inconsistent with such ownership either during the term of such use or afterwards. Specifically, User will take no action that will interfere with or diminish VictimsVoice’s right in the VV Trademarks. The User acknowledges that the VV Trademarks are valid under the applicable law and that User’s utilization of the VV Trademarks will not create any right, title or interest in the VV Trademarks. The User agrees not to apply or assist any third party to register the VV Trademarks or a confusingly similar designation anywhere in the world. If any application for registration is or has been filed by or on behalf of User in any country and relates to any mark which, in the reasonable opinion of VictimsVoice, is confusingly similar, deceptive or misleading with respect to, or dilutes or any way damages the VV Trademark, User shall, at VictimsVoice’s request, abandon all use of such mark, and any registration or application for registration thereof and shall reimburse VictimsVoice for all costs and expenses of any opposition or related legal proceeding, including attorneys’ fees, instigation by VictimsVoice or its authorized representative. Upon the written statement that the User is not using the VV Trademarks in accordance with the Guidelines, within ten (10) days, User shall modify its use to comply with the Guidelines or cease using the VV Trademarks.
